Paul Minnesota, students and their conductors have been preparing for their yearly Christmas concert-- a tradition that brings together music, community, and months of dedication.

(Dr.

Matthew J. George) The Christmas concert has become the flagship event for the University of St.

Thomas.

It's where the community come all together to experience this phenomenal performance.

(narrator) St.

Thomas is a liberal arts university with a long and proud history of musical performance.

a tradition that has inspired generations of students.

To pull off something like the Christmas concert, when I see how hard our students and faculty are working, to bring that together, it's a great encouragement because you can't pull that off with sort of an arm's-length approach to it.

You have to be all-in.

(narrator) Each year students work for weeks perfecting their parts for the Christmas Concert.

♪ The most challenging part of preparing for this concert is our specific piece, "Jubilate Deo."

♪ For me personally, one of the hardest songs I've ever performed-- this specific piece-- it's fun, it's long, there's highs, there's lows.

It's like a whole story I feel like So I'm really excited to do that.

(narrator) All of the hard work in rehearsal culminates in students taking the stage at Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis.

Performing at Orchestra Hall, it's something special-- over a thousand people in the crowd, you're playing where many, many, many famous people have played who are just incredible players.

There's something that sticks with you when you play there.

(narrator) This year's concert features a collection of ensembles, each bringing their own sound and spirit to the performance.

At the heart of it all is a commissioned piece by composer James Stephenson titled "Love Divine..." ♪ Love divine ♪ ...which is also the theme of this year's concert.

I feel like that's a very nice theme for this year to just bring people together and remind us that, you know, regardless of where we're coming from, what we believe in, we're all just, we're here.

The thing I love most about music is how regardless of language barriers or religion barriers or whatever it is, it will always bring people together.

I think that's the most rewarding part-- knowing you're making music that is letting people experience that.
