Welcome to “Sound The Bells.” It is a pleasure to be with my friends from the United States Army Field Band.

These Soldiers behind me, they go out and they connect with communities all across this great nation, with people just like you and me, through the universal language of music.

And they remind us that our military is out there serving on our behalf and that this country, it's worth defending.

Now, this is my fourth year hosting “Sound The Bells” now, and you are in for a treat this afternoon.

And we are so pleased to welcome back the incredible and angelic voices of Baltimore's own Singing Sensations Youth Choir.

Whether it's ice skating at the Inner Harbor or strolling through the snow-laden Patterson Park, or sipping some hot cocoa on the Washington Monument as it's all lit up for the holidays.

We could go on and on about the great things here in Baltimore, but there is a soloist here, Christmas is a little different for her.

Our next soloist grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, where a 100 degree Christmas is not rare.

But it never stopped her from celebrating the season.

Here to tell us all about her “Winter Things,” please welcome Sgt.

Did you know the Army and rock and roll have a long-standing relationship in the North Pole?

In fact, the holiday classic, the [uh] “Run, Run Rudolph”?

Well it was written as part of a running playlist when Rudolph was training for the Army Ten-Miler.

This is not a lie!

It is true.

And this thing is, sadly, you know, Rudolph he suffered from shin splints in mile four.

I mean, it was really sad.

He was setting a record pace.

It's amazing!

I mean, he was blazing through he gets the end and people are like, “Rudolph, like, who is training you?” “What Preakness thoroughbred got you to run so fast?” And Rudolph sort of limped and he says, “no, no, no training necessary.

I was elf-taught.” See the joke?

See, the joke is, see?

So it's usually “self-taught.” I took the “s” off and made it “elf-taught.” [drum fill] The joke was better yesterday, honestly.

So let's move on and get rid of me here.
