hello and welcome to the Melvin Mania Holiday Special.
I'm so happy you joined us.
We have a great show planned, but before we get too far into it, I want to thank our biggest fans for joining us in the audience.
We have the tiger, Pluto, and the guy that always brings his own chair and sits on the front row.
we really appreciate all three of you being here and the best.
sorry to interrupt, but I think the guy that always brings his own chair and sits on the front row is raising Oh, whoops.
Do you need something, buddy?
I was wondering which one of these fellas is Pluto and which one's the tiger?
This is the first time I'm meeting him, and I don't want to call them by Totally understand.
Pluto is the giant planet directly to your right.
Pluto, I didn't know that was you sitting right next to me.
Sorry.
okay.
Random guy that always sits on the front row and brings his own chair.
I'm pretty small for a planet, so I understand if you didn't notice me right away.
That's a good point, Pluto.
Oh, wait.
Hold up.
Do you have another question?
Moving on from Pluto.
Is I just wondering why the tiger isn't dancing?
Because I want to see him dance.
I think it maybe has to do with the music that we're playing.
It's the holiday special, so we're playing Christmas music.
All right.
Well up.
What are you I'm heading out.
are you Because I want to see the tiger dance.
on second.
Stella, do you have any Christmas dance music you could play for us?
do.
I just don't know if it's going to make the That's just a risk we're going to have to take.
Go ahead and play it.
so, Melvin.
Christmas dance music coming up now.
Stevo I'm way too nervous to watch.
Did it work?
Oh, yeah.
And guess what?
The tiger's not the only one dancing.
Wow.
Look at that.
You know what?
That's the power of the holiday spirit right there.
Steve-O, can you name a more iconic trio than the tiger, Pluto, and the guy that brings his own chair and sits on the front row of Melvin mania?
Not off the top of my head.
We are truly witnessing history right now.
Anyway, now that that's all started and we didn't lose any of our audience, I think it's time to officially kick off the Melvin Mania Holiday Special.
sounds good to me.
What do you want to do first?
Well, I was thinking one of my favorite things about the holiday season is how everyone has their own ways of celebrating and their own tradition.
So I was thinking maybe we could ask a few people what their traditions are or what they're planning on doing.
I just don't know who to ask.
What if we asked the people that you interviewed for local time on the ground?
that's a great idea, Stevo.
Low cold down on the ground.
for today's local town, the ground.
Instead of us going and visiting the town, we're bringing the past towns that we've visited back to us.
Please help me in welcoming back Greg Leer, Shayna Stein, Jimmy Taylor, Michael Boykins, Casey Davis and Mark steps.
And I already know the TV won't be turning on, and that's.
I put the Santa hat on it.
Here you go, buddy.
There we go.
Welcome back everyone.
So the question I have for all of you is how do you celebrate your holidays?
And we'll just have, everyone enter at the same time.
So go ahead.
My.
That did not work at all.
I think I maybe heard someone say Christmas tree.
Did any of that make sense to you, Steve?
Oh.
No, not at all.
Maybe have them take turns.
Well that's really smart Steve.
Oh okay everyone we're going to be changing things up a little bit and will now be taking turns.
Do I have anyone that wants a volunteer to go first?
Since I was the first guest for local town on the ground, That's a good point, Greg.
Does anyone object?
Greg.
Going first.
by first, I mean, technically, I knew about Melbourne before any of you because I am such a big fan of Melvin and the That's true.
Jimmy, you might need to go first.
that you guys think you're close to Melvin, but I'm the only person whose parents met that's an interesting point.
You know, the fact that I met your parents is a pretty big deal.
just throw this out there.
I'm the only person here who actually has a cape, so I think that should count for something.
I actually have a cape to.
Wait wait wait.
Hold up.
Mark, you have a cape.
do.
They actually give every Derby mayor a cape.
Well, I'm sorry, Michael, it looks like you're not the only one with the cape.
Mark, what color is your cape?
It's derby green.
Interesting.
Did you have, like, a follow up question, Michael, or were you just asking about the color of his cape?
I just want to know, is cape color?
Us Cape guys got to stick Well, as much as I would love to keep talking about capes, and for the record, I also have a cape.
We got to move on, and I've decided we're just going to go in alphabetical order.
So that means Cassie, you'll go first.
don't even need to give you a reason to go first.
Nope.
Just go ahead and tell us how you celebrate the holidays.
Cassie.
holiday plans this season are to go and spend time with all of my family.
We love to go back to western Kansas, where my grandparents live, and we spend the whole day with them and open up presents, and it just brings back good memories and eat lots of chocolate chip cookies.
Our plans for the holiday is to get together with our family and do our holiday dance party, where we listen to Christmas music and dance to jingle Bells all night long.
My holiday plans for this year include spending a lot of time with family, which is my plan every year because family means so much to me.
One of my favorite traditions growing up was having a Christmas pickle hidden in our tree.
Our Christmas tree by our mom.
And on Christmas morning, my brother Eric and I would race to the Christmas tree to see who would be the first to find the Christmas pickle.
And whoever was got to be the first one to open a present that year.
Our holiday tradition is to put up Christmas lights before Thanksgiving, and then about a week before Christmas, go out and look at, Christmas lights in Derby in the Wichita area and then go to dinner.
My plans for the whole day are actually pretty simple.
We have family coming into town, and then we usually go to either my mom's house or my grandma's house to make the mother's.
We have lots of traditions in my family.
I travel to Wisconsin where my sister and her family lives.
We decorate gingerbread houses.
We cut down a fresh Christmas tree.
On Christmas Eve.
We get to open one present.
It's always Christmas pajamas that everybody gets to match, but we always wear them that night and everybody gets to watch a movie together about Christmas.
And then on December 25th, we all get to open presents and we make homemade cinnamon rolls.
It's such a fun time with family.
Thank you.
Casey, Greg, Jimmy, Mark, Michael and Jenny for sharing how you celebrate your holidays.
They're all just so, hold up, what's going on with the TV?
TV, TV and, Oh.
Hello, Melvin.
what are you doing here?
Aren't you really Oh, yes.
Super busy.
Honestly, I'm a little stressed out.
There's a lot I need to do, and, Oh, never mind.
I don't want to get into that right now.
Anyway, I come bearing gifts.
What I have letters from some of your past guests, and they're under your desk.
real, I'll go grab them.
No.
Where are those letters?
Melvin.
Here are the three letters Santa left over Well, thank you Kevin.
I'm so excited to read these.
let you get to them.
Merry Christmas, Melvin.
Oh.
Oh, Merry Christmas Santa.
What do you think, Steve?
Should I read these right now?
I don't see why not.
Let's hear them.
Okay.
The first one we have is from Ron Mallory.
Here we go.
Greetings, Melvin.
hope you're doing well.
Since being on Melvin Mania.
I have been traveling all over our solar system with Angus.
Actually, I'm writing this letter from Angus log cabin on the planet.
You said you wanted to move to Uranus a.k.a George.
Anyway, I hope we can hang out when I get back to Earth.
All the best, Ron.
Well, it sounds like Ron is absolutely living the dream right now.
Should I read another one?
Stevo?
Yeah, go for it.
next one is from Adriana Hogwood.
It says hello, Melvin.
wanted to reach out because I had some really exciting news.
After we finished recording Melvin Mania.
I got in contact with Broncos and I've been teaching him English and Spanish.
He's a really fast learner and honestly, he's teaching me a few things too.
We're looking forward to teaching you some more Spanish soon.
Love your amigos, Adriana and Broncos.
Wow.
So Broncos is learning English now, Stevo, does that mean we need to start learning?
Cuz goes.
I don't know, I've heard cuz cuz is an easy language to learn, but a hard language to master.
You know what, Stevo?
I've heard the exact same thing.
Anyway, shall I read my last letter?
Absolutely.
Let's hear it.
Okay.
It's from Taylor Johnson.
It says Dear Melvin.
what is up?
So if I'm going to be honest, things haven't been great.
I've been doing a lot of live comedy storytelling shows, and they haven't been getting the reactions I want.
I want audiences to laugh and cheer, but most of them have been booing and falling asleep and calling me names.
And my grandma's mailman threw a chair at me.
But there's been one positive in all of this, and that is Kyla.
Every time a show isn't going well, all I have to do is yell Kyler!
And he flies out of nowhere, swoops down, picks me up and takes me away like nothing ever happened.
So I just want to say thank you, Melvin, for introducing me to my best friend Kyler, because he is single handedly saving my career.
Sincerely yours.
Taylor.
Wow, what a crazy few months for Taylor.
know, I'm really glad Kyler has been there for him.
too.
But honestly, Kyler is just there for everyone.
He's just a good dude.
Anyway, now that my letters are read, I think it's time to start wrapping up this holiday special.
What do you think, Stevo?
I think it's a good idea.
But shouldn't you wait for Tim?
but Tim is already home for the holidays.
And, you know Tim, he's always making sure he leaves extra early, so he's on time.
So how are you going to end the show without Tim?
I have two ideas, Stevo.
I could send it over to the PBS Kansas Coaching or Garvey Children's Education Discovery Center, where Len and Larry had a book already to read as a book called Coco Snow.
Or I was thinking we could have a Melvin in the stinkers reunion in the studio.
Well, those both sound like great ideas.
But how are you going to decide think the only answer is to call our holiday expert, Susie the Snow Woman.
Susie is a drawing that was sent to him by one of our viewers to put it in our creator box.
And if you're interested in having your drawing featured on the show, you can email us at Melvin.
At CP, it's dot org.
Susie was sent in by Sawyer from Bel Air.
Let's put Susie in the creative box and have her help us figure out how to end the show.
Hey, Susie.
Welcome to our holiday special.
I'm so excited to be here.
I'm glad to hear that.
But we do have a quick question for you and we need to hear your thoughts.
Do you think we should end our holiday special with a reading of a book in the Ed Center, or a Melvin and the stinkers reunion?
Why don't you do both?
Can we do that?
I think so, but it's your holiday special, Melvin.
So you got to make the call.
I say we do both, then.
I didn't even know that was an option.
So now why don't we send it over to Larry and then in the editor, and while they're reading, we'll get set up in here for the Melvin and the stinkers reunion.
Take it away.
Len and Larry.
Well, thank you, Melvin.
Today we are going to read Coco Snow, written by Julie.
Most men and illustrated by Ellen Youngman.
Are you ready, Larry?
Oh, I'm ready.
Let's go.
Coco Snow outside the window, soft flakes falling down.
Soon a white blanket will cover the ground.
Coco go out?
Should Coco be bold or stay by the fire and get out of that cold?
Let's bundle up and grab mittens and a sweater.
Let's go outside and enjoy the cold weather.
I know you are cold, but we could grab skis.
Just don't go too fast and look out for the trees.
What skis?
No thank you.
Please.
But Coco snow.
Something different perhaps.
Let's strap on some skates.
I promise with practice, you'll learn to be great.
No skates for me.
Let's stay in and have tea.
But Coco snow.
this should be fun.
Let's grab the red sled.
You might need a helmet to protect your head.
Sledding.
No fun.
Let's stay in and be done.
But, Coco snow.
Let's go to the river and fish through the ice.
A yummy fish dinner.
It should taste very nice.
Or we can stay in and have fish from a tin.
But coco snow.
Let's build a snowman.
He'll be your friend.
Someone to laugh with.
To play and pretend.
But you are my friend.
And we should stay in.
But Coco Snow, you made it outside.
Now let's have a ball.
It's slippery and wet.
Be careful.
Don't fall.
Oh, Coco!
Snow!
everyone, it's Melvin the stinkers, obviously.
Today we're going to be playing our biggest holiday hits.
You guys ready?
